About Lite Magazines

The people behind Lite Magazines, how each article about how-tos and everyday know-how is put together, and what we will not publish.

About this blog

What you are looking at is a working blog. Old pieces stay up in the archive rather than quietly disappearing, including the ones that have aged badly.

Lite Magazines began because the straight answers about how-tos and everyday know-how were scattered across forum threads, comment sections, and messages nobody archived. We decided to write them down properly instead.

Where the articles sit

  • How-To. Clear, practical step-by-step guides for everyday tasks.
  • Home. Fixing, making, and caring for things around the house.
  • Lifestyle. Style, grooming, hobbies, and the small details of daily life.
  • Food. Food know-how, from storage and shelf life to simple techniques.
  • Culture. Stories, meanings, and the background behind things people ask about.
  • Explainers. Plain answers to the questions people actually type into search.
  • Games. Video games and gaming, from what we play to how games connect to the rest of life.

Nothing gets filed under three headings at once. If a piece does not have an obvious home, that usually means it has not been thought through yet. The busiest sections are how-to, home and lifestyle.

The people

There is no house byline here. Each piece is signed, and each signature leads to everything else that person has put their name to.

Clara Mensah, How-to editor. Clara writes clear step-by-step guides for everyday tasks, the kind of practical how-to that gets you from stuck to done.

Oscar Beaumont, Home and practical. Oscar covers fixing, making, and caring for things around the house, with honest, hands-on guidance.

Lena Fischer, Culture and explainers. Lena digs into the meanings and backgrounds behind the questions people ask, explaining them plainly and without fuss.

The limits of this site

We are not the right place for advice tailored to your exact situation. Lite Magazines publishes general guidance, and the difference matters more than it sounds.

How we work

Nothing here is written from a search results page. If we have not handled it ourselves or spoken to somebody who has, we leave the topic alone until we have.

We buy what we write about. It is slower, it is more expensive, and it is the only arrangement that lets us say a thing was not worth it.

The full process, including corrections and commercial links, is set out on the editorial policy page.

Fixing mistakes

Tell us which line is wrong and why, at info@litemagazines.com or through the contact page. Small errors are corrected the same week. Anything that changes the advice gets a dated note at the bottom of the article.
